I wrote a post recently about how I occasionally use Notion AI to help my writing look better. That gave me an idea to test if it can think of better post ideas than me! So I’m going to compare my post ideas vs the ideas that it comes up with.
I’m using Notion AI because I store all my posts in Notion so it can look through all of my posts as data and give me responses based on that. I won’t be testing GPT-4 separately because Notion’s AI is built on that already. I would be testing two of the same AIs. I can also test Grammarly AI because I want to.
Step 1:
I came up with 10 ideas for a post. I wrote a hook and a one-sentence description. To not take forever, I gave myself 20 minutes. Also, I did this step before the AI.
Here’s what I came up with:
Brief Notion Database Overview: Give a brief explanation of the 6 types of databases you can use in Notion.
Atomic Habits on Notion: Give a good quote from James Clear’s book “Atomic Habits” and explain how you can use Notion for this.
My Steps for Creating a Template: Go through each of my steps of how I create a template for others to use.
How to create a task dashboard on Notion in 5 minutes: Do a brief tutorial on creating a simple task manager in 5 minutes.
How fast can I write a LinkedIn post?: Write about how I can time myself to write as fast as possible to batch content.
Habits should be part of your task list: Write about why a habits list shouldn’t be separate from your tasks in a Notion system.
Is Notion better than Excel or Sheets at numbers?: Explain the difficulties and positives of recording analytics on Notion vs. Sheets.
You can use Notion for hobbies too: Show and explain a Notion system that helps manage one of my hobbies (maybe guitar).
Who should pay for Notion?: Notion’s free plan is great, but some people and businesses might need additional features. Explain who the paid plans are best for.
Make Notion AI write a full LinkedIn post: Take one of the ideas from this post and make it write a full LinkedIn post about it.
As you can tell, these don’t have to be the most grand ideas or the most specific tutorials. I just came up with my thoughts on things that I can expand into 100-200 words. So let’s see what Notion has.
Step 2:
I will give Notion AI the prompt. To be specific, I’m using the Q&A feature. So here is what my prompt is going to be:
Based on the contents of the pages in this database (Posts), write 10 ideas to write LinkedIn posts about. Provide the hook or title of the post and then a one-sentence description of what the post should be about. Use this list as examples of how it should look: (copy and paste the last 10 points).
Step 3:
Alright, here’s what it came up with:
Based on the contents of the pages in the "Posts" database, here are 10 LinkedIn post ideas:
Notion Tips for Beginners: Share essential tips for new Notion users to get started efficiently.
Notion AI vs. Human Creativity: Discuss the advantages and limitations of using Notion AI for creative tasks.

I like these ideas! They are less specific than mine but I could make good use of them. In fact, some could work as entire articles on Substack! My favorites are ideas 1, 4, 6, 7, and 9.
Grammarly?
You know what? Let’s see if Grammarly can come up with LinkedIn post ideas! All I will do is highlight my 10 original ideas and give this prompt:
Prompt
Give 10 more ideas for LinkedIn posts about Notion based on these first 10. Use the same structure as well: give a title for the post, and a one-sentence description of what the post should say.

Analysis
These ideas are surprisingly good. Somehow it was able to be more specific even though it had much less information than Notion AI. All the ideas look similar in that they’re all “Notion for x” where x is a specific audience but there’s nothing wrong with that. Not all of these can be short enough to be LinkedIn posts but I can always turn them into Substack articles. I’m impressed.
Conclusion
Now who’s ideas are better? I’m biased but overall I like mine more. Let me know in the comments below. This was also a good exercise for me because now I have 30 more post ideas to work off of!
